After 1009 weeks Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge says bye bye to Maratha Mandir, end of an era

Bollywood ultimate romantic movie Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, finally saying bye bye to Maratha Mandir. Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ) the ultimate first released in 1995 had a continuous run of 1009 weeks at Mumbai’s Maratha Mandir theatre. But sadly running the cult Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol movie is longer viable for the cinema owners in the multiplex age. Yash Raj Films, producers of DDLJ, have announced that the film will make its final curtain call today (February 19, 2015).

After playing for 1009 weeks, the unprecedented box office performance of DDLJ comes to an end at Maratha Mandir today. It goes without saying that no other film will ever be able to break the historic 1000-week record ever.  The film played out in the 9:15 AM show today for the last time at the theatre.
